Disease Prevention: The Foundation of Veterinary Health Care
Adult pet care focuses on the health needs of animal companions between the ages of one and seven. Dogs and cats age much faster than we do, so a disease can progress from initial onset to serious illness in a short period of time. That is why routine wellness exams are essential for keeping your adult animal healthy.
A thorough physical examination is recommended for adult pets once a year. Adult patients with chronic conditions, including those on special prescription diets and medications, may need to be seen more frequently.
An annual visit with one of our veterinarians will include the following:
- Comprehensive physical examination
- Intestinal parasite screening
- Heartworm testing
- Blood work
- Dental examination
- Vaccination update
- Discussion of nutrition, behavior, and any pet owner questions
Animals cannot tell us when they feel ill. Wellness examinations give your veterinarian an opportunity to minimize potential health risks through early detection and treatment.
